Program

Course program

Eight modules — from choosing a camera to your first clients.

In this module

  • Types of cameras
  • What the market offers, different manufacturers
  • Types of lenses and how the choice of lens affects the result
  • Recommended equipment kits
  • Does the quality of the equipment affect the picture
  • Extras: memory cards, computers and more

What you will get

You will understand which camera, lens and additional equipment you need, find your way when choosing gear and not overpay for equipment you don't need yet.

In this module

  • What exposure is
  • The three main camera settings — their features and values, with examples
  • How to shoot in fully manual mode
  • How to shoot in semi-automatic modes
  • So which mode should you choose?
  • Why the sky is missing in some photos — it turns into a white patch without colour or detail — and how to avoid it
  • What white balance is and why your photos sometimes come out too yellow or too blue
  • Using camera settings to create different effects: blur, motion blur and more
  • Focus
  • A secret camera setting few people know about that improves your photos and your editing
  • Choosing the right time to shoot in different locations: studio, park, seaside and home sessions

Extra materials

The module comes with cheat sheets of settings — PDF files you can use at your first photo sessions until you get more practice.

What you will get

You will stop being afraid of camera settings and understand which parameters to choose in each situation. You will control light, sharpness, motion and depth of field yourself and get technically good photos in different shooting conditions.

In this module

  • How to make your photo special?
  • Types of composition, with examples
  • How to apply them to your shoots
  • What angles there are and how to make a shoot more varied
  • What shot types there are
  • What a professional photographer's series consists of and how it differs from an amateur one
  • An approximate formula for building a professional series to deliver to a client

What you will get

You will learn to see interesting frames even in the most ordinary situations and know how to make a shoot varied. Your photos will become beautiful, alive and captivating — the very frames people want to look at and say “Wow!”. You will also learn to create not just separate beautiful photos but a whole harmonious series your client will be glad to receive.

In this module

  • What creative photo sessions are and why you need them
  • How to make clients choose you
  • Where to start building a portfolio

  • Creating a dream shoot from scratch
  • How to analyse other people's shoots and how to copy the right way
  • How to find your own style

What you will get

You will be able to come up with and organise a photo session from scratch on your own: from the idea and a detailed plan to the visual concept of the finished shoot. You will start consciously shaping your own style and a portfolio that makes clients come to you.

In this module

  • Different programs for working with photo colour
  • Batch editing — all the photos of a series are edited at once
  • Why presets look different on different photos and sometimes don't fit
  • What a source file is and why perfect source material matters

What you will get

You will learn to create beautiful, consistent colour across a whole series, work with presets properly and understand how to take a source photo to a professional result.

In this module

  • How to use Liquify to correct the figure gently and naturally
  • How to work with AI generation in Photoshop
  • How to clean up the background and what you can use AI in Photoshop for
  • Which additional programs I use to retouch skin

What you will get

You will master modern retouching tools and learn to refine a photo professionally while keeping it natural: correct the figure, retouch skin, clean up the background and use AI to solve complex tasks.

The mood board for this photo session was created in module 4, and now it is time to bring it to life.

In this module

Your teacher

Olga Pavlova — your teacher

My name is Olga Pavlova. I am a family and wedding photographer in Israel: I photograph couples, families, pregnancy and a baby's first year — in the studio, at home and by the sea.

What matters most to me in photography is real emotion and light. That is what I teach: not technique for its own sake, but the ability to see the frame, work with people and build a series the client will want to receive.

In the course I share what I use myself every day: from camera settings to editing, a portfolio and the first clients. I review your work personally and suggest what to improve.
